Meet Jill, a color enthusiast.
Growing up, my dad used to display his vinyl collection on the wall of our basement. The classics; Springsteen, Tom Petty, Eagles, and Journey. He created a mural by tacking them up on the wall, sliding each vinyl out when he wanted to play it. I grew up associating each song with the unique artwork on the cover.
I started Pop Palettes as an architecture student at the University of Oregon in 2020. During my studies, I became infatuated with color theory. Color is deeply intertwined with our psychology, sparking emotions and creating memories. Color can be used to define, separate, categorize, and evoke. My artwork uses color to interpret music in a physical and visual way.
After graduating, I moved to Seattle to pursue a career in commercial interior design. In this new chapter, I am constantly surrounded by color inspiration in textiles, furniture, materials, and lighting. With newfound inspiration, I have begun incorporating new print styles to my color-based artwork. There is nothing I love more than the warmth and generosity of the design industry in Seattle, and I continue to take inspiration from the creative people and places I experience.
In 2021, I began selling in person at local art markets around Eugene, OR and Seattle, WA. I feel most proud of my work when I am able to connect with fellow music and art lovers in person. Thank you to everyone who has supported the growth of my business - from selling prints to friends on my dance team, to launching my own website and selling at markets across the Northwest. I am so excited to see what the next year holds.
